This is the third tutorial of the 8 Brocades of Qigong, developed by Manchester Confucius Institute. Here, Qigong and Tai Chi instructor Dr Amily Wang Guenier demonstrates movement number 5: 摇头摆尾去心火 Sway the Head and Shake the Tail and movement number 6: 双手攀足固肾腰 Two Hands Hold the Feet to Strengthen the Kidneys and Waist.
Movement number 5 expels excess hot energy and regulates the function of the heart and lungs. Its primary aim is to remove excess heat (xin huo) from the heart.
Movement number 6 stretches the spinal column and strengthens the muscles and tissue around the spine. It enables oxygenated blood to circulate to the brain. The whole body is moving, Ren meridian and Du meridian are both stretched, both yin and yang are nourished, acupoints of Yangguan, Weizhong are stimulated to improve genitourinary system.
