The 8 Brocades of Qigong - Tutorial 1 Author: Tabea Heckrodt Added on Fri Jun 05 16:50:00 BST 2020 Duration: 0:04:11 Manchester Confucius Institute has developed a series of short tutorials to teach you the 8 brocades of Qigong, also known as Chinese Yoga, to promote traditional Chinese wellness practices. Experienced Qigong and Tai Chi instructor Dr Amily Wang Guenier will demonstrate two different movements in each clip. The first two movements are 双手托天理三焦 Two Hands Hold up the Heavens and 左右开弓似射雕 Drawing the Bow to Shoot the Eagle. Movement number 1 regulates the Triple Burner and balances your energy. By lifting the chest and abdomen, pulling and extending the back, all the internal organs are lifted and moved, and the three Burner points are smoothed out, eliminating the cold and humid turbidity in the body. At the same time, the movements of squeezing the back of the neck and those acupoints prevent shoulder and neck degradation and improve yang energy. Movement number 2 strengthens and realigns the lower back muscles and the spine as well as the hips, legs, knees, and ankles. While in a lower horse posture, the practitioner imitates the action of drawing a bow. It exercises the waist area, especially on the kidneys and spleen meridian and is particularly helpful for bowel movements.
